This audiovisual program started from the hypothesis that the ecological crisis also manifested itself in the image, as a crisis of representation. As a gap in the modern cultural heritage—one that had convinced us of the difference between culture and nature and had accustomed us to look at the latter from a distance: either as an object of study and exploitation, or as a landscape-spectacle onto which human emotions and adventures—the only ones worthy of storytelling—were projected.

At that time, some arts rebelled against this history of "disenchantment" and its impact on visual culture. Wishing to repair the earthly bond, they sought other image practices that carried with them other ways of being in the world. There was no common pattern to these emerging forms. Some questioned the word "nature" and affirmed that there was a continuity between organisms and technologies, infrastructures and ecosystems. Others studied the agency or cognition of non-humans or evoked futures of multi-species inhabitation. Some called themselves films, others audiovisual installations, others filmic or sensory perception experiences. These practices were diverse in aesthetics and forms but were nourished by a similar vocation: to create visual vocabularies that broke with the naturalistic imagery of modernity and returned enchantment to the world. New image-myths accompanied us, as Bruno Latour would say, on our necessary journey back to Earth.

The cycle consisted of four audiovisual works, each framed by an introductory activity where, through the artistic practice of local agents (Coco Moya, Carlos Monleón, and Claudia Rodríguez), we expanded on the central themes they addressed regarding the climate crisis and the problem of its representation in images. With a program of talks, workshops, and collective exercises, a space of exchange was created to rethink together the current ecological moment. Each day concluded with a debate between invited artists, the public, and the cycle’s curators.
