LINES OF ACTION

Academic and Learning Programs
At the core of the Institute for Postnatural Studies lies a commitment to education as a space for critical learning that fosters collective and individual practices. Through a wide range of pedagogical formats—such as mid-term programs, thematic seminars, experimental methodologies —the IPS offers tools for speculative thought, interdisciplinary dialogue, and situated learning. These initiatives challenge dominant epistemologies and amplify emerging voices engaged with ecological thought and the political dimensions of environmental issues.

Research based Projects, Exhibitions, and Design Practice
The Institute for Postnatural Studies develops long-term projects that address the intersections of ecology, politics, and territoriality. These inquiries take shape in exhibitions, curatorial programs, audiovisual works, and critical design. Expanding the boundaries of conventional research, the IPS works across disciplines as a studio that proposes new forms of knowledge and sensibility, aiming to reconfigure our understanding of the postnatural, producing and imagining alternative futures.

Cultural Programing and Production
The Institute for Postnatural Studies fosters a vibrant ecosystem of close collaborators through residencies, workshops, and open activities that inform and shape its cultural programming. Operating at the intersection of Spanish and global contexts, the Institute is based in Madrid, housed in a warehouse that includes a workshop, residency accommodations, and shared workspaces, a space of mutual support, care, and contemporary creation. Its programming gathers practitioners who align with the Institute’s approach and contribute to its evolving lines of inquiry.

In parallel, the Institute runs its own publishing platform: Cthulhu Books.
